Name: Belinda ( Lindy) Jankowiak---kids may call me Mrs. Lindy, but I'm also very comfortable with Mrs. Jankowiak or simply Lindy. My somewhat difficult last name is pronounced Yan-ko-vee-ak .
Spouse: Marco
Children: Clara, Anika and Luke
Staff Position: Elementary Children's Ministry Director
How long have you been in ministry? New to the position as of August 2009, but a long time volunteer with Kids on the Rock.
Other than family, name 3 people who you would most like to have dinner with: Goretti is our sponsored child from the African Children's Choir. I know our family would love to hook up again with her or any of the kids we've hosted or seen perform. Also this next answer is more than 3, but it would be amazing to host some kind of potluck dinner with famous women of faith and tenacity throughout history, for example, Corrie ten Boom, Harriet Tubman, Susanna Wesley, Joni Ereakson Tada and more. Key note speaker: Mary, the mother of Jesus!
Who do you most look up to now? God! Really...I've been discovering more and more my need to do just that!
Favourite Food: Fresh German buns with cheese or liverwurst and a fresh cup of sugary, creamy coffee...also Asian cuisine!
Favourite ice cream flavour: Chocolate! Mint chocolate chip is ice cream I love.
Favourite Movie: I still love Sound of Music and Anne of Green Gables as 'girl' films. Through Marco, action movies like Fugitive and the Jason Bourne Trilogy might surprisingly make my top 10, too.
Last book read: Bruchko...and I read it to the girls, too- a fascinating, faith-building missionary biography of Bruce Olson and his work with the Motilone Indians of Columbia
Favourite pastimes: Being with family and friends, running, reading and although not a pastime, devotional time has been a good investment of my time!
Describe your favorite shoes or piece of clothing: my various sweaters...if it's not about 27 degrees or more, I'm probably cold!
What are your personal challenges? As a good friend of mine put it, responding to the important and not simply the nagging urgent, seeeing them in right relationship. There are many tasks that take on the air of urgency ( this needs time and attention to deal with now ), but are they in the grand scheme of life, truly important to me, to people and to God? Trusting God to take care of things instead of diving in to try to create a faster human fix.
What is one of your favorite passages in the Bible? There are many, but Isaiah 40 in its entirety has been recently very meaningful.
How did you meet your husband? back on July 22nd 1989 at the wedding of the Kotts. We were both 19 and Marco was visiting from Germany. 4 international flights, 4 baskets of letters and too many phonebills later, we were married July 22nd 1995.
